"Let It Go"
2017 is finally behind us. I am very thrilled about this. As you know from the past 4 chapters, things were not so easy for myself and my family in 2017. I obviously wasn't the biggest fan of 17, I don't think 17 liked me and my family very much as well. As a parting gift, 2017 went all Oprah on us. "You get the flu, and you get the flu, heck! You all get the flu". In the past week it has been a chain reaction, we all got hit with this virus. I actually have no proper voice at the moment and i'm still very congested. It's all good though. I was fine with this whole getting sick at the end of 2017. Better to get it out of my way, that way I can journey on in this new year. It just goes to show that this last year was just a place holder for the much better 2018. It's funny how I titled this page "Let It Go". In Frozen Elsa said the cold never bothered her anyways, then in Frozen Fever, she gets the flu. Regardless, she was still able to get a grasp of the current moment in her life, and let go of all the bad she has faced. As the seconds, minutes, and hours pass on my Daniel Wellington watch, 2017 becomes a further thing of the past. The wind is howling like the swirling storm inside of me, and I will no longer keep it in. 2018 will be the year I stand in the light of day.
Winter is all about the darker shades, the blues, the classy suits, the warm sweaters, the leather boots or jackets, and the fashionable coats. It may seem like I'm wearing all blue because i'm a little icy towards 2017, but it's the complete opposite. When I was first diagnosed with Glaucoma I watched Frozen on endless repeat. There was something so empowering about Elsa. I related so much to the character. She was shunned away because of who she really was. No one understood her powers or the beautiful things that could come from them. When she sang "Let It Go", I saw a bit of myself in her. When she threw out her old clothes, let down her guard, and transformed herself into the iconic Elsa little girls and boys adore today, that was everything to me. I know the blue is a symbol for her powers but it's also a symbol of empowerment. Elsa owned up to who she is. In that moment she became proud of who she is inside and out. I woke up on New Years Day and even though I was not feeling well, I felt relieved. Last year was just further proof to myself that I am stronger than I think I am. I always write down how i'm feeling. If that's here in my diary or in my songwriting, I document all my thoughts and feelings. I read a few of the earlier pages from chapters 1-4 and saw so much growth over the 9 month time period that those chapters take place. Emotions run through my heart and I feel the few moments of joy and the many moments of sorrow all over again. But on January 1st, I let it go. I'm never going to get anywhere if I keep dwelling on what has happened. I will always reflect and expand upon that reflection on my journey. That is why I always jump back and forth from different timelines of my life. Because each event, no matter how big or small they may be, they all connect to who I am in this moment. I am proud of the man I have become/ the man I am becoming. I'm dying to see where the journey goes. Because I honestly don't know. I have a map, but there is many different turns I could take. If no one likes what I do this year, then that is on them. I'm going to let my storm rage on and let it go. Because the cold may make us sick, but the iciness of the world, never really bothered me anyways.
I feel as if i'm back in the water swimming to the shore. This time the water is colder, but there is a sense of warmth from the fire in my soul. I have this drive that is waiting to explode. I can look back at the journey, but I'm never going back. The past is in the past. I'm not perfect, people say I was before all of this... well sorry to disappoint, but that perfect boy is gone, he's been gone. I probably will make a few mistakes this year, and that's fine. I will rise like the break of dawn. It's time to see what I can do to test the limits and break through. I look forward to getting stronger and stronger with each passing day, "I Won't Back Down". I look forward to be one with the wind and sky. Let's see what happens as my inner power flurries through the air into the sky.

"Nothin But Star Wars" (Feat. Oppo Suits x Star Wars)
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away a film called Star Wars: A New Hope was released. Here we are in modern times and we are still visiting that famous galaxy. As you know, I may not look like it, but I sure as hell am one of the biggest nerds. I take pride in that. I grew up loving superheroes, fairytales, and rooting for the light in the battle between the dark. I always saw a bit of myself in each character I loved growing up. For the past 2 years Star Wars has released a film in December. My brother Jamie and I made it a tradition to see all the new Star Wars films together when they premiered. Sadly this might be my last year with this tradition. No new Star Wars film will release next December, and instead we will get one in May. I don't know if I will be able to watch it with my brother due to the fact that I will be moving back home to LA. This year the film is called "The Last Jedi", so to go out with a bang i'm honored that Oppo Suits reached out to me to collaborate with them and wear one of their Star Wars collab suits. Darth Vader is such a complex character. Underneath all the evil is a man who is just battling his inner demons. His costume is his armor. Deep down inside he's just a man looking for a point of redemption. Christmas feels like the perfect time for Star Wars, because not only does this franchise bring joy, it shows us what forgiveness is about. Darth Vader did a lot of wrong, but in the end he did right. Through all the bad, he was forgiven in the end. I feel like Christmas is the perfect time to find a way to forgive those who have done wrong and share a common ground between the light and dark for the greater good.
I always related Star Wars to religion. I grew up Catholic and always saw the similarities between the 2. Oppo Suits had many different Star Wars designs for me to rock, but something about Darth Vader stood out to me. Not only is the suit very settle, its mysterious and the pop of red just adds another level of fire that burns for the inner battle within our souls. As the year ends the last major blockbuster of the year releases. “The Last Jedi” and the whole Star Wars franchise echoes what we go through today in society. This whole year the world has genuinely been a mess. In Star Wars they call the bad guys, the sith. From what we have all seen there is so many sith lords surrounding our world and doing horrible things. I try to touch base with the good and the bad things that happen in our world, and try to understand why these things happen. I think of the men like Anakin Skywalker. Before he was Darth Vader he was a young man named Anakin with a bright future ahead of him. Then one day he was lured into the dark side by an evil force named Darth Sidious. Anakin thought the ways of life on the dark side would benefit him in the long run, but it only brought out the worst in him. He could have had it all - Love, a family, honor… but he chose to give into his inner demons and burn all that he knew to become Darth Vader. He did however come full circle. Under all the armor, Anakin Skywalker’s true self was battling to get out. Darth Vader became Anakin in the end, and the light side didn’t refuse forgiving him. He learned his lesson and became one with the force, once again. What i’m trying to say is, we all come full circle. We all have to go and battle whatever demons in the world and in our souls. On Christmas day we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we morn his death on Good Friday, and celebrate his resurrection on Easter. We rise, we fall, but we always find a way to rise back up and stand in the light. Films like Star Wars and holidays like Christmas and Easter give us the one thing we need through all the darkness, hope.
This franchise has so many themes that can relate to each and every one of our lives. That's why I always look forward to what's next in the story. Star Wars has played a pivotal part in my story. There is something about it that hits me on an emotional level. The battle between light and dark reminds me of the battles I have faced, especially these last few years. Seeing that pinch of hope in the eyes of these characters, gives me a pinch of hope for another day and a brighter future. I love that Star Wars comes out during the holidays because this time of year is all about hope. "Christmas Time" is the time for gathering around the ones we love. We reflect and honor the good and bad of the past year. We look forward with love in our hearts and hope in our eyes, that through our heroes journey we will rise above it all and be the Last Jedi’s standing.

What I'm Wearing:
Blazer & Pants: Boohooman Tailored Collection www.boohooman.com/mens/suits, Shirt: David Beckham, Tie: Calvin Klein, Shoes: Giorgio Brutini
People, today let's talk about people. 2 weeks ago I was approached by boohooman to collaborate on a look for their new tailored collection. When I received the pieces in the mail, I knew I wanted to talk about people. The blazer and pants just have this vibe. Its classy, sleek, and well fitted, but wearing it in a city filled with people it stands out from the crowd. Men are selective when they wear suits. Every man wants a suit that makes them feel comfortable. A man uses a suit as his armor throughout the day or whatever event a suit calls for. Boohooman has a wide variety of great pieces (www.boohooman.com/mens/suits) and I am honored to showcase 2 of them. Let's talk about the pieces and how people should stand out and help to inspire and lift up other people along the way.
Everyone has their own personal choices and opinions. But people rely on one another to make it through life, just like a suit. A suit is not complete without the perfect pieces to make the blazer and pants shine and stand out in between. In life and in style sometimes you have to mix and match to get the perfect blend, or sometimes the perfect blend comes out naturally to create a sleek combination. The blazer and pants from Boohooman (www.boohooman.com/mens/suits) is the perfect example of pieces blending naturally to create the perfect look. I love the blues that both the blazer and pants bring out. Boohooman created pieces that feel so classic. When I put the blazer on I loved how it fitted so perfectly on my body, along with the pants. These are truly tailored pieces, without having to be tailored in person. When I saw the pieces in person I knew I had to pair it with a button down dress up shirt from David Beckham's H&M collection. The 2 shades of blue on the shirt felt so appropriate to blend and mash up with the blazer to make it stand out more. I paired the shirt with a dark blue skinny tie from Calvin Klein and mixed together it became an awesome combo of different shades of blue. Below the pants I paired it with one of my favorite pair of shoes from Giorgio Brutini. The shoes just tie this whole look together and wraps it up in a bow. Like I said earlier a man uses his suit as his armor whenever he needs it. When we create outfits and combinations and wear it out in the world, we all have that little spark inside to shine and stand out from the crowd. It is in our blood and our dna to be individual people. Boohooman is the perfect brand and company to bring out individuality amongst their awesome variety of pieces. Like the pieces in a suit, each are special and serve their purpose for the combination they are apart of. We are all people, but why should we be like one another when we should be our own person and serve our own special purpose like the pieces in a suit (www.boohooman.com/mens/suits).
People, I had a lot of people look at me when I shot this early Wednesday morning. The blazer and pants are such a stand out and they grab your attention. That's exactly what I wanted the pieces to do. I wanted them to catch their eyes and give them something to admire amongst themselves. Since I was a kid, I always believed in standing out from the crowd. Not for attention but for a purpose greater than this life. We all look for people in this life we live, to have and hold close to our hearts. It feels good and right to have family, friends, and loved ones to share a life with. We as people need to uplift each other, instead of trying to undermine and tear down inner souls within. Life is too short to not have a chance to be with people you love. Today I was at a grocery store and I was reminded that not all people are good. Some need more heart than others. By now as my readers, you all know I have a lot of heart. I can be strong and I can vulnerable at the same time. I let my guard down when needed with people I trust, like you. This cashier at the grocery store quick check line tried to undermine and attack my personal character based on the fact that I use a walking cane and I can't see in one eye, when In reality she's the one who can't at all. She tried to make it seem as if I was stealing from the store at the quick check out line, but with her clueless mind she tried to justify herself when the screen said everything I put in the bag was already scanned. She kept trying and trying to prove that I took something from the store, but as I told her repeatedly to look at the screen, she was blinded by her own stubborn judgement. She just had to be right and couldn't accept the fact that she was wrong. People like that need prayers because they don't like to own up to their mistakes. Instead they try to put the little people, the underdogs down. But in the end the underdogs prevail. Having that experience today reminded me that we as people need to be there for each other and not use stubborn judgement to try and light an unnecessary fire. We need to be the good people in a world filled with people like that woman. We need to stand out and be the special pieces like the pieces of a suit. "This Land Is Your Land", this land is my land. This land was made for you and me. We are people who need people, and we are lucky that we need people in this world. So let's make it a better place for us to be the best people we can be for all the people that need an uplifting and a ray of light in their lives.
Thank you for hearing me out once again. I hope you enjoyed the photos and the pieces from Boohooman. Remember to keep moving forward when narcissistic people try to drag you down. Shine bright and stand out and rock the piece of armor (www.boohooman.com/mens/suits) that protects your heart and soul.
